Beijing, 15 July 2025 — The 12th World Congress on High-Speed Rail, organised by the International Union of Railways (UIC), opened in Beijing this week, drawing rail operators, infrastructure owners, technology suppliers, academics and policy-makers from more than 50 countries. WolkenVision, a leading Chinese provider of AI-powered rail-industry digital-transformation solutions, was invited to take the stage. At the thematic forum Artificial Intelligence & Digitalisation / Smart Construction & BIM, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Boxiao Ma, delivered a keynote entitled “Advancing High-Speed Rail Digitalisation with AI.” He showcased WolkenVision’s latest technological breakthroughs and global implementation cases that are accelerating digital transformation across the entire high-speed-rail life-cycle.
A Premier Global Platform for Shaping Railway Futures
Regarded as one of the rail sector’s most influential events, the World Congress on High-Speed Rail convenes senior executives from railway operators, infrastructure investors and builders, equipment manufacturers, research institutions and public authorities. This year’s programme focuses on technology evolution, sustainability, and the accelerating shift toward intelligent, data-driven rail systems.
In his presentation, Dr. Ma described how WolkenVision’s deep-learning engine, 3D geometric-reconstruction pipeline and high-performance point-cloud platform dismantle the limitations of traditional manual surveying and 2D data management. Key capabilities include:
Ultra-fast semantic recognition of track slabs, sleepers, turnouts, catenary poles, noise barriers and dozens of ancillary structures within massive LiDAR point clouds. Hundreds of geometric and condition parameters are automatically extracted in minutes.
Dynamic digital-twin creation that aligns AI-generated models with existing BIM data and historical inspection records, allowing rapid detection of deformation, settlement, loosening and other risks.
Traceable maintenance reporting that synchronises with Operations & Maintenance Systems (OMS) to trigger intelligent scheduling and predictive interventions.
“AI and digitalisation are moving railway infrastructure management from reactive inspection to proactive prediction, from fragmented data to life-cycle digital-twin collaboration,” Ma said.
