2023 First Batch of Suzhou Big Data Innovation and Application Laboratory Showcase (Phase IV)

2024-02-01

In January 2024, Suzhou Big Data Management Bureau announced the list of the first batch of Suzhou Big Data Innovation and Application Laboratory, covering 35 units in 14 fields. Among them, “Suzhou Ancient City High-precision Multi-dimensional Data Fusion Laboratory” led by Suzhou Institute of Planning and Design and jointly declared with WolkenVision AG Beijing was successfully selected in the field of urban construction application innovation and became one of the 35 laboratories constructed in the city first.

“The ”Suzhou Ancient City High-precision Multi-dimensional Data Fusion Laboratory" takes the Suzhou Historic District as the main research object and focuses on creating a digital twin base of the ancient city that can be seen, felt and known. The lab will focus on breaking through the technical bottlenecks of insufficient spatial data accuracy and simulation, and difficulties in multi-dimensional data fusion, so as to improve the modeling accuracy and application depth in the field of digital twins. The research directions include: improving the precision and simulation of spatial models to realize the visual reproduction of the ancient city; exploring the automated semantic segmentation and multidimensional data hook-up mode based on artificial intelligence to realize the intelligent perception of the ancient city; and researching the algorithm for generating the design scheme of the ancient city to help the protection and updating work of the ancient city.

At present, the Scan2BIM reverse modeling algorithm developed by the laboratory has been applied in the field of rail engineering and large-scale construction, and it is carrying out special model training for the complex environment of the ancient city, initially realizing the intelligent segmentation and modeling of typical urban elements such as traditional houses.

This selection marks a milestone in the innovative exploration of urban digitization and ancient city preservation and renewal between SPI and WolkenVision AG, and also injects new momentum into the digital transformation of urban construction in Suzhou.
